About Us
Ballathie Good Food Company is part of Ballathie Estate, a thriving rural business located in the heart of Perthshire in Scotland.
Ballathie Estate extends to 1700 acres consisting of high quality pasture, productive arable land and extensive areas of natural woodland. Established for centuries, the Estate has been in the ownership of the Milligan family since 1998. Located next to the River Tay, Ballathie's scenery and natural environment is breathtaking whatever the season.
Conservation and investment in protecting the landscape for future generations is high on the agenda.
In 2005 Ballathie Estate purchased the well-known Ballathie House Hotel, one of Scotland's most famous country house hotels, recognised for exceptional food quality.
Ballathie Good Food Company was created in 2006. For those looking for the finest quality and freshest ingredients to cook at home, Ballathie Good Food Company supplies the highest quality beef, pork, game and venison. Ballathie Estate has its own herd of pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle and its own free-range Tamworth and Saddleback pigs. Wild venison and a range of wild game which both roam naturally on the estate are available in season.

The Milligan Family
Ballathie Estate is a family business. John Milligan, together with sons Mark and Scott and daughter Kirsty are all involved in hands-on roles in different areas of the business. Mark manages the Good Food business while Scott takes special responsibility for the hotel. John manages the business overall and has a particular interest in the farm.
The Milligan family feel privileged to own one of Scotland's most scenic and productive estates and they are passionate about investing in the estate further for the benefit of future generations. Since coming to Ballathie in 1998 thousands of new trees and several miles of new hedges have been planted creating safe havens and natural habitats for indigenous wildlife. Animal welfare, wildlife conservation and protecting the environment are top of the agenda at Ballathie Estate.
The Milligan family are committed to supporting RHET, The Royal Highland Educational Trust, a charity which educates children about where their food comes from. Over 1000 children from rural and inner city schools have visited Ballathie Estate in recent years, enjoying a tour of the farm and learning about how food is produced. Even the teachers learn a lot!
Ballathie Estate is a rural business which directly supports 60 jobs and indirectly supports many more. The Milligan family strongly believe the business can grow further, creating additional employment and economic impact in rural Perthshire.
