The Ballathie Day is full of variety!
Our business is a rare combination of a four star luxury country house hotel, Ballathie House Hotel, and a large farming estate. Ballathie Good Food Company is where these two parts of our business combine. We use the skills of our farming team to produce the highest quality Aberdeen Angus beef and we then use the skills of our chefs to prepare the finest quality Aberdeen Angus steak pies and cottage pies for you to enjoy at home.
We sell our Aberdeen Angus Pies direct to you through on-line sales, a local delivery service and in our farm shop. In addition to our signature pies we sell our Aberdeen Angus beef direct. The farm also has a herd of free-range pigs and this high quality pork is also available for sale along with Ballathie game and venison when in season.
The Ballathie Day on the Farm
Work always starts very early on the farm. Our herds of pedigree Aberdeen Angus Cattle and Tamworth and Saddleback pigs are fed on the open green fields of the Estate and need to be looked after throughout the day. In winter the cattle are provided with shelter and additional homegrown fodder. Our farm produces grain and silage. All the meat produced on the estate is bred and reared on the estate – how many steak pies can you eat where you have full and direct traceability?
Ballathie Estate extends to over 1700 acres. We view our role very much as guardians of the countryside. Since buying the estate we have invested significantly in environmental improvements such as planting hedges and trees throughout the estate. In addition to farmland we look after several hundred acres of woodland and wildlife habitats, including the area of Riverbank adjacent to the River Tay. We have a full environmental policy which you are welcome to view in our farm shop.
The Ballathie Day in our Country Kitchen
We make our pies fresh each morning, ready to be delivered all over the U.K. Our beef and pork is butchered by Kennedy’s in Blairgowrie, a well-known local quality butcher. Our chef takes delivery of our beef and pork into the chill at Ballathie – all our pies are made on-site in our own kitchen.
Orders for our pies, beef and pork come in on-line 24 hours per day and our customer service team work hard to package our products and get them ready for delivery – either locally in our own refrigerated van or via courier nationwide. Our farm shop is open daily and our chef is on hand in the kitchen next door should you require cooking tips or advice about a recipe. The Ballathie Day at Ballathie House Hotel
The Ballathie Day at our four star hotel never ends! Our hotel is open and ready to welcome and look after guests 24 hours per day, 365 days each year. Our team of chefs led by Andrew Wilkie prepare the finest local produce and our own Ballathie beef and pork for our guests, whether this be for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Ballathie House Hotel plays host to a large number of weddings – a beautiful backdrop for your big day next to the River Tay in our hotel gardens.
